tackling the art of thai cooking

For those who know me know I love cooking... (that may have been part of my incentive to move to France last year, and learn by doing!) In any case, I spent a recent afternoon in Bangkok with the famous vegan May Kaidee for an afternoon foray into Thai cuisine. Thai cooking is all about balance- of sour, sweet, salty and bitter tastes, and fresh ingredients. I made about 12 dishes- everything from the famous Thai soups, pad thai, isaan, green curry, massaman curry, som tam, spring rolls, peanut sauce, and my favorite, a simple pumpkin hummus. (Cooked pumpkin, sesame seeds, cashews, coriander, a bit of soy sauce- mash with mortar and pestol.)
