However, this article takes me right back to backpacking around Morocco with another female friend in early 2012 (as Arab Spring was taking flight) and having to evade some sort of conflict nearly every day and eventually the worst situation possible - a near kidnapping...

I worked for over a decade as a photojournalist at newspapers and shifted my focus to working in education, health and conservation - issues I discovered I most cared about after traveling and documenting in over 50 countries.
