a city tour

more yekaterinburg, finally

Some highlights from my visit for the State Department to the lovely Yekaterinburg, or Екатеринбу́рг. The capital of the Urals region and founded in 1723 by Peter the Great, the major industrial city was known as Sverdlovsk until 1991 and closed off to foreigners for many decades.
