more yekaterinburg, finally
Some highlights from my visit for the State Department to the lovely Yekaterinburg, or Екатеринбу́рг. The capital of the Urals
region and founded in 1723 by Peter the Great, the major industrial city was known as
Sverdlovsk until 1991 and closed off to foreigners for many decades.
